Six Pack Abs

Having six pack abs is one of the most sought after goals in the world of diet and exercise, and indeed it should be. Six pack abs are a symbol of perfection, of dedication, and a symbol of sexiness. They demand attention, second looks, and envy. They do not go unnoticed at the beach or at the pool. For these reasons, and many others, six pack abs are considered the Holy Grail in the fitness world.

We have all been blessed with abs; the key is to make the fat around them melt away. We all know that this is no easy task. For many of us, the stomach area is a prime candidate for fat storage. It is also one of the most difficult places to lose fat.

Fear not! With the right diet, an effective exercise routine, and persistence, you CAN develop six pack abs.

Mentality

Before you start your six pack abs journey, it is important to get into the right frame of mind. You MUST understand that every person’s body is different. Do not get discouraged if you see someone eating less healthy than you and exercising less, and are having quicker results than you. Genetics play a huge factor on how quickly one can develop a sexy midsection. Just remember, your journey may be a bit longer, and have a few more obstacles to overcome, but you can reach your destination. You will reach your destination!

Diet

Diet is the most important aspect of developing six pack abs. Let me repeat, diet is the most important aspect of developing six pack abs. Make sure you understand this. Yet, no matter how many experts and studies back this statement, you still find people doing hours of cardio and wondering why they don’t have a flat stomach.

Some find that eating a diet low in carbs is the key; others find that keeping their fat intake low works best. At the end of the day, however, what matters most are how many calories you have consumed during the day. Diets that have much success these days, are the ones that include high protein, low fat and low to moderate complex carbohydrates. This type of diet seems to work best for controlling hunger, building muscle (muscles burn fat), and reducing cravings.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, get your protein, and limit your junk food. There are also fat burning foods that can help you get those six pack abs. Eat sensibly!

Exercise

Getting regular exercise consisting of both weight training and cardio sessions will help melt away fat in no time (with the right diet of course). Training your abs is one of the most important, yet most neglected, things you can do for exercise. Your abs are the center of almost all body movement and developing strong abs will strengthen your core and reduce body injuries.

Cardio: To really blast the fat away, try to do at least 5 cardio sessions of at least 30 minutes each a week. Vary this up between continuous low impact cardio and interval training.

Weight Training: Incorporate weight training and resistance training to develop strong muscles and bones. Building muscle will increase the rate at which you burn calories. Try doing some sort of weight training 3 to 4 times a week for at least 20 minutes a session. Don’t forget to train your abs!

Persistence

Everyone can get started eating right and exercising but not everyone can be persistent. This is what separates those who have six pack abs from those who don’t. Persistence will ensure that your abs will be the center of attention the next time you take a swim at the pool. A good tip for being persistent is to keep track of your progress. Try keeping a fitness journal and a food journal. This will help you to be accountable for what you do and also give you some insight on what you can improve upon.
