Fitness Habit |Park Farther Away
Park farther away to burn more calories. Every day you have an opportunity to burn more calories by sacrificing a little convenience. When you park at the grocery store or your place of work, park in the back of the parking lot or at least farther away than normal.
With the amount of errands an average person has in a week parking farther away will add up to about 19 miles a year. Let’s break this down. If you park 50 feet farther away than usual, that is 100 feet extra round trip. The average person has about 15 to 20 errands a week. Work, grocery shopping, lunches, dinners, etc. are all included. Based on this, you are adding 2000 feet more a week or 104,000 feet a year. That equals about 19 miles! 19 miles of walking is a great way to burn more calories.
I assure you this isn’t a math lesson. The point is that if you park farther away you can burn more calories.
